Friday Random Ten - 06.24.05

Bandsucks_ten_0003Time for Friday Random Ten, where you hit "shuffle" on your favorite digital music player (for me my Windows MediaPlayer at work) and report on the first ten songs that it spits out.

I still haven't recovered from last night's Wilco/My Morning Jacket concert. I didn't fall asleep until after 1:00 last night (this morning), and my legs are still mad at me for standing so long at the concert. The combination of a lack of sleep and tired legs has me walking around the office like a drunk. Had I known that I was going to look inebriated today I would have a enjoyed a few beers with my breakfast.

The MediaPlayer didn't spit out any Wilco or My Morning Jacket, but it did pick an Uncle Tupelo tune, that's close enough. And what Uncle Tupelo song did it choose? "The Long Cut," of course.

Here goes:

"We're An American Band" - Yo La Tengo (from I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One)
"The Long Cut" - Uncle Tupelo (from Anodyne)
"Life And How To Live It" - R.E.M. (from Fables Of The Reconstruction)
"Wrong 'Em Boyo" - The Clash (from London Calling)
"Umbilical" - Mazzy Star (from Among My Swan)
"Electric" - Luscious Jackson (from Fever In Fever Out)
"Dollar Bill Blues" - Townes Van Zandt (from A Far Cry From Dead)
"Few" - Billy Bragg (from Don't Try This At Home)
"Booker-Loo" - Booker T. and The MG's (from The Best Of Booker T. And The MG's)
"Leave" - R.E.M. (from New Adventures In Hi-Fi)

Song I like most from this week's list: Got to go with "The Long Cut," I wouldn't have named my blog after it if it wasn't a great song (although "Wrong 'Em Boyo" would have been a good blog name too).

Song I like least from this week's list: "Booker-Loo." I don't hate this song as much as I hate the fact that Booker T's greatest hits CD doesn't include my favorite song of his, "Time Is Tight."

Best album on the list: As much as I love Anodyne, London Calling is one of the best albums, if not the best album, ever made.
