Friday Random Ten - 08.05.05

Disc_frt_1Time for Friday Random Ten, where you hit "shuffle" on your favorite digital music player (for me my Windows MediaPlayer at work) and report on the first ten songs that it spits out.

Since I have the time, I thought I'd do another very special FRT like I did a couple of weeks ago. I've been listening to my downloads more than anything else on my computer, so it's only right that I do a list made entirely of legal downloads.

Once again, instead of pointing you towards the album these songs come from, clicking on them will send you to the page where you, too, can download the song. Act fast; there are no guarantees on how long these songs will be available for free.

[I didn't feel comfortable hosting these downloads right on my blog, so clicking on the "here" links will take you to the page where they are available (it will not start right into the download). I realize this is an extra step, but most of these pages offer the bonus of having more than just the one mp3 listed here.]

One more thing: Last week I failed to mention 3hive, another great source of free legal downloads.

Here goes:

"Across The Bridge" - Great Lakes Myth Society (from here - scroll down to band's name on top scrollbar)
" A Line Allows Progress, A Circle Does Not" - Bright Eyes (from here - click on "Bright Eyes," then the "download" tab)
"Going Through The Motions" - Marah (from here)
"Louise" - Mazerin (from here)
"I'm Bruce (Dimension 5 Mega Mix)" - Fantastic Plastic Machine (from here)
"Plan To Stay Awake" - The Deathray Davies (from here)
"Wait For The Wheels" - Goldrush (from here - click on "download" tab)
"Such Great Heights" - The Postal Service (from here)
"Side 2" - Dressy Bessy (from here)
"It's All In My Mind" - Teenage Fanclub (from here)

Least favorite song from this week's list: "A Line Allows Progress, A Circle Does Not." I like the title, and I like a lot of Bight Eyes' stuff, but not this one.

Most favorite song from this week's list: "Side 2."

Best band name for a Kinks fan - The Deathray Davies. In a perfect world their song would be the hit of the summer.
