May has proven to be quite a hectic month this year. It's usually that way for my beloved because of Mother's Day, my birthday and our anniversary fall within the same week. I have to feel a little bad because he has a lot of responsibilities. He did very well.
We did go away for our anniversary. Just a night away was heavenly! I think that I nodded off at least 3 times. Just to be able to have a conversation that isn't peppered with "Mom, can you..." or "Dad will you..." was okay in my book. We came back re-charged.
Then for my birthday/Mother's Day. I was treated to breakfast in bed. (which was good because I was at a bachelorette party the night before.) The kids gave me handmade presents. My beloved gave me a CD case with a pretty ring in it. (He is a trickster, that one) I do love it! I lobbied hard for jewlery and he took the hint. Smart boy!
The last West Wing was on Sunday. Monday too. I was so sad that it was over that I watched it again! It was kind of a disappointing ending to what was a great show. The ends really needed to be tied up. Toby? Where the heck was he? Where was the happy dance that he should have been doing after getting pardoned by the president? (He wouldn't have been doing that, I know!) Where was the ring that should have been on Donna's hand from Josh? There was a nice Leo tribute with the Bartlet for America napkin. I actually enjoyed the new First Lady. She was very dry-witted. The whole thing made me crave what life would be like having JIMMY SMITTS as the POTUS. I know, it would be like Fantasyland. I think that I would have liked it there. It was more enjoyable to watch the West Wing than to have to hear about the real one. I will miss this show. Hands down, the most intelligent and coolest show on TV.
Then today, the International Month of Dee was marred a bit when my friend from HS sent me a story about one of our classmates. He's a religion teacher around here and was busted last year for having child porn on his computer. Pretty graphic too! His wife says that he's not a criminal... (don't know if she read any good law books lately...) the priest at his church says that he's an outstanding Catholic. (hmm...you gotta wonder if perhaps his views are skwed a bit... with all of the "good preists" abusing kids) I read nothing about the real victims of this. THE KIDS! Why is that such a novel concept for some? Why is that lost in the shuffle? He is apparently spending four years in prison after the sale of his house! That's nice. Wonder if all sex-offenders get that kind of treatment?
