Time for Friday Random Ten, where you hit "shuffle" on your favorite digital music player (for me my Windows MediaPlayer at work) and report on the first ten songs that it spits out.
Not much time to write. Dropped the seven-year old and the missus off at the airport this morning (not very romantic saying goodbye at the metal detectors - how long before movies reflect this change in their sad airport goodbye scenes?).
After that the three-year old and I went out to breakfast in downtown Haddonfield and had what were possibly the worst diner pancakes I've ever had. Indescribably bad.
Next up for us is the free lunchtime Camper Van Beethoven concert. More later, now it's time for the ten.
Here goes:
"Space Diva" - Luscious Jackson (from Electric Honey)
"Mr. Grieves" - The Pixies (from Doolittle)
"Mothers of the Disappeared" - U2 (from The Joshua Tree)
"I Dream a Highway" - Gillian Welsh (from Time: The Revelator)
"Jesus Christ" - Big Star (from Third/Sister Lovers)
"7 and 7 Is" - The Ramones (from Acid Eaters)
"The Golden Age" - Beck (from Sea Change)
"The Road and the Sky" - Jackson Browne (from Late for the Sky)
"Get It Right" - The Kennedys (from Get It Right)
"A Magazine Called Sunset" - Wilco (from Australian EP)
Song I like most from this week's list: Easily "A Magazine Called Sunset." The Australian EP is a great little freebie Wilco gave away to those who bought Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and "Sunset" my favorite song from it. Plus we're seeing them in six days! Woo Hoo!
Song I like least from this week's list: There's a few songs I like on the Pixies' Doolittle, but "Mr. Grieves" doesn't do anything for me.
Best album on the list: Time: The Revelator, from Gillian Welsh. I love her voice.
