We're heading downtheshore on Saturday, but I have decided to take tomorrow off. That means that my vacation officially started this afternoon! Woo-hoo!
Tomorrow won't be all lounging around the house, though. The eight-year-old and I are going to (yet another) XPN free-at-noon concert - They Might Be Giants. After that we might try to sneak in a visit to the Flying Fish brewery, which is having a private tour and tasting for those who, like me, are on their email list. And I still have to pack.
But before I go into total vaca mode, I wanted to post a couple memes I've had bookmarked:
Karen wants to know:
If I could be any
treesitcom character, what sitcom character I would most want to be?At my first job, during high school, one of my supervisors called me a liberal Alex P. Keaton. It was meant to be an insult, but I've always liked it. That one was chosen for me - if I could choose a sitcom character myself, I'd go with Rob Petrie on the Dick Van Dyke Show. Pretty much living Carl Reiner's comedy-writer life - Morey Amsterdam! Mary Tyler Moore! And those hot capri pants (hot on Mary, not so hot on Morey).
Luna's meme is all about the fives:
5 items in my fridge (Not much, since we're trying to empty it before we leave):
- jalapeno mustard (a suggestion of Luna's, actually)
- cantaloupe ($2 at Wegmens - have I mentioned how much I like that store?)
- Trader Joe's organic crunchy peanut butter
- Dannons, Dannons and more Dannons
- about, no lie, seven different kinds of beer
5 items in my closet:
- a week's worth of work clothes - ironed (so I don't have to do it when we get back)
- the ironing board and iron
- my junky grass-cutting/painting clothes
- our safe (shhhhh... someone might want to steal out birth certificates)
- the sewing kit (I do most of the mending - shhhhh again)
5 items in my car
- Z by My Morning Jacket
- several semi-melted packs of gum
- sunflower seeds
- safety pins (for race bibs)
- empty coffee cups
5 items in my
pursework bag:
- Never Mind the Pollacks by Neal Pollack
- $3 folding umbrella
- Timex Ironman watch owner's manual (for the daylight savings switch)
- Dannon lids (there's a sweepstakes going on)
- lunch bag with dirty spoon still in it, which will stay there all week unless I remember to take it out before we go on vacation.
That's all I've got for now. Still busy thinking up some posts to cover my week away.
Have a great vacation. Once again, you 'forgot' to leave the address. Oh, Robbbbbb uhh Markkkkkkkk.
